About Jane Nam

Jane Nam is an author, data storyteller, and the founder of AgeTech Journal, a publication focused on AgeTech – the intersection of aging, technology, and innovation. She launched the Journal to fill a gap she saw in how aging and elder-focused technology is covered and understood. Rather than the highly technical, niche, or fragmented reporting typical of the tech world, Nam wanted a resource that made AgeTech accessible to founders, investors, researchers, and curious professionals – a place where insights about innovation could connect people to the future of aging, not just inform them about it.

Nam’s own background is a blend of data science, research, and narrative analysis. She has deep experience in survey development and data storytelling, skills that she brings to AgeTech Journal’s written work and editorial direction. Her work has been widely cited in high-profile outlets such as The New York Times, Forbes, Vox, and the Harvard Business Review, a testament to her ability to take complex data points and trends and make them meaningful for a broader audience.

Academically, Nam holds graduate degrees in social and political philosophy and gender and sexuality studies, and completed her bachelor’s degree at Emory University. This liberal arts and humanities foundation, paired with her data skills, gives her writing a distinctive edge: she doesn’t just report on tech; she contextualizes it within human experience, societal needs, and cultural frames.

At AgeTech Journal, Nam explores everything from caregiving challenges and design principles for inclusive technology to market opportunities and founder lessons in the AgeTech space. Articles by her often combine empirical insights with interviews, case studies, and industry reflections, for example, her coverage of caregiving tech highlights not just the tools themselves but how users and caregivers really engage with them, bringing forward the lived experiences behind the data.

Her editorial work spans topics like aging safely at home with tech, innovations in elder care, and what startups need to consider when building products for older adults. Through this writing, she has helped decode AgeTech trends for a broad readership. Examples include interviews with emerging founders, discussions about the silver economy’s growth, and analysis of how AgeTech startups can more effectively design and scale their solutions.

Beyond her editorial work, Nam engages with the AgeTech community through commentary and development projects, such as an AgeTech Startup Tracker she announced on professional networks to map where innovation is accelerating.
