The Use of Virtual Reality Training to Meet High Intensity Gait Training Goals in the Stroke Population

This webinar is now completed

High intensity gait training (HIGT) is a well-established intervention to improve walking function in patients with chronic stroke.

Newer research is emerging in gait training with the acute and subacute stroke populations.  The use of virtual reality training interventions coupled with walking practice have been shown to improve walking speed and distance, and are an effective tool to achieve high intensity gait training targets.

This session will discuss the use of virtual reality gait training in the acute and subacute stroke populations.  The presenter will discuss the current evidence available for virtual reality gait training and how to use GaitBetter to implement this practice with the stroke population.  The presenter will also discuss the use of virtual reality gait training using GaitBetter to improve gait intensity and dosage and achieve standards set by the locomotor clinical practice guidelines.
